24 Hour Fitness to Open Four Chicago-Area Clubs in 2020
24 Hour Fitness is expanding to the Chicago market, and its first clubs are slated to open in the suburbs of Carol Stream and Schaumburg this spring. Each club will be nearly 40,000 square feet and offer multiple group exercise studios, an indoor lap pool, basketball court and locker rooms with private showers.
Life Time Continues California Expansion with New Club in San Clemente
Life Time, Chanhassen, Minnesota, opened its Life Time Rancho San Clemente Tennis and Athletic Resort on Jan. 24, the company announced. The 10.5-acre resort with a 46,000-square-foot facility was formerly the Rancho San Clemente Tennis and Fitness Club.
This is the fifth Life Time facility in California, according to the company’s website.
Gold’s Gym Opened 35 Clubs, Signed a Record 22 U.S. Franchise Agreements in 2019
Gold's Gym International CEO Adam Zeitsiff highlighted the company's 2019 successes in a recent media release. This includes the opening of 35 clubs, the signing of 22 American franchise agreements and numerous business developments in Australia, New Zealand and Asia.
Town Sports International Has Agreed to Acquire Flywheel Sports
Town Sports International (TSI), the operator of New York Sports Clubs, plans to offer its existing 600,000-plus members access to Flywheel Sports' offerings through packaged membership options. Conversely, Flywheel’s 300,000-plus members will be offered similar packages for accessing TSI facilities.

JLL’s research team examined 6,000-plus fitness center move-ins dating back to 2013 and learned that 111,055 fitness centers currently reside in retail centers, an increase of 23.5% since 2010.
